2. Hooks notes that no one wants to
call attention to women abusing children. After viewing the video below, why do
you think people have done so little to calling attention to this abuse by
mothers? What was your reaction to this video? Do you think it was abuse?
Abuse is abuse.
Males are viewed as stronger and more dominant parts of the family and
are associated with abuse. Emotional abuse (mother screaming) is still abuse
and could psychologically harm the child. There is a book about child abuse by
a mother exclusively and it is called the Child called it Abuse by men is noticeable
like bruises and cuts where abuse by women is more psychological from yelling,
even though there are cases of women being physically aggressive as well. Most headlines are just “Child abused” so that
isn’t sexist, there are plenty of cases
where drugged up women beat their kids. The media calls attention to men
because sadly, its almost expected (sometimes) Men usually have more stressful
jobs and are more aggressive personality wise, also they are seen as the disciplinarian
of the household.
Mothers seen as comforting and protective of
children where dad is thought of as dominate and disciplinarian. Violence is
associated exclusively with men. No one
wants to think that a women who gave birth to the child would be capable of
hurting it. Nanny cams bring new light to abusive mothers
