I am doing my presentation on Dating Relationships from chapter 7 in our main textbook.

In this section they state that the heterosexual relationship is the most studied form of romantic relationship and that there is little research on same sex partners or other forms of relationships.  Also it mentions the way that dating has changed over the years and how it is more focused on hooking up now and not marriage.

Another topic brought up is how women devote so much of their time to looking sexually attractive for men.  Most women believe that this is the only way that they can gain success, rather than education and professional relationships.

Next the section talks about how in heterosexual relationships it is still the norm for men to lead and initiate everything, and the female role is to maintain the emotional parts of the relationship.

The final part of the section talks about gender differences in expression of intimacy.  according to the book, men express their intimacy more covertly and through joking, story telling and playfully fighting.  Also that the more intimate the relationship or friendship meas the more self disclosure and favors are done by both parties (men and women) as compared to traditional less close friendships/relationships.
