What are some contradictory messages and expectations that
males hear from our modern-day society?
- i dont know if the question is hear, i think it is how we expect males to be from the past. males have to be taller, stronger, the breadmakers, bigger, the rock if you will.
Identify whether these occur on individual, interpersonal
and/or societal level(s) of communication. Expand on this concept.
- its deff. on the societal level because every guy thinks like this now a day. I cant be the one to count one my girlfreind/wife for money.... why not? your in a partnership. isnt the point of that to help eachother out? or thats what i thought that it meant!
identify what you feel are some of the rights that patriarchy
takes away from men.
- everyone is equal. meaning women are starting take some of the jobs that men used to do and their doing it more professional. men have always thought they had to be the "man" in every relationship dealing with women, well its starting to turn and some men just cnt deal with the fact that women can do the same thing as men!
Are there privileges that men receive simply because they
are born male?
- of course!!! and its the same for women! for example, men are supposed to be not as emotional as women. meaning we cant get our feelings hurt or act like "babies".
- first off we need to start with having a more open mind!!! be more acceptable toward others doing things. with this start we as a society will only benefit from this.
i agree, in a partnership men should be able to count on their wife/partner for money and vice versa
ReplyDeleteI think your comment on the first question that men should be taller is interesting. I had forgotten about that expectation. I have dated someone slightly shorter than I am and we got comments all of the time how I was the taller one and how weird that was. Society really shouldn't judge people on something as insignificant as someone's height and it shouldn't be expected that the guy be taller than the girl in a heterosexual relationship.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are up and running on the blog! Good start. For future posts, think about how you can expand your ideas and include examples to demonstrate some of these points. Also work on adding visual and video content to enhance your ideas and bring them to life.
